Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero, an American singer and actress was a model in the past. Kotero was the female lead singer in Apollonia 6 and co-starred in Prince's film Purple Rain from 1984. The group was just one of the female performers who gained from Prince's association in the 1980s. Patricia Kotero, born 1959 in Santa Monica California began her career as a model and actress. In the late 70s she appeared on CHiPS. In 1984, she was cast as the female lead of Prince's Purple Rain (during which time the singer switched her names) and replaced Vanity in the female trio Vanity 6 singing with them in the film under the name Apollonia 6. They scored a small smash with Sex Shooter however it was as Prince's duet partner on Take Me with You from the soundtrack that she had more of an impact on charts. Kotero's relationship with Prince ended when the pair disagreed on her career direction. Apollonia 6, the group she was part of was broke up. Kotero was in a few minor films during the time however, she was not able to appear in her role in the Purple Rain sequel Under the Cherry Moon. Between 1985 and 1986, she landed a part on the evening drama Falcon Crest. Apollonia's debut album came out in 1988. But the R&B/dance tracks were not well received by those who bought music. They soon ceased to exist. Throughout the decade that followed the singer-songwriter remained an active actress, playing minor roles in films and a few TV series. Apollonia released a CD in Spanish and English called Stay with Me in 1997. The singer returned to the university, received a diploma in making films. She then formed her firm and began working on children's television. Apollonia Kotero has many roles. Apollonia Kotero is an actress also model and a former performer.
